On the DVD documentary Burt Reynolds made claimed that a senior executive at Pontiac promised him a free Trans-Am if the movie became a hit. It did and the Black and Gold Special addition T-Top Trans-Am obviously became the most popular selling car of the year and still today a very sought after collector car and Burt Reynolds expected the Pontiac executive to honor his promise but he disappeared without sending him a Trans Am After several months, Burt finally Pontiac and was told the executive who made him the promise retired and the new executive wouldn’t honor that deal. It was said that he handled the situation with class not to look like the typical spoiled Hollywood star trying exploit his fame to get a free car.
Our favorite pick of the Trans Am is the 1979 if you hadn’t noticed by now because of the AWESOME Tail Lights and the coolest front end of all the Trans Ams made and it the most popular year and one of the reasons is it was the last year for the Real Muscle in our opinion, although the 1980 and 1981 Turbo Trans Ams had some serious get up and go as well but they certainly lacked in that goose-bump, hair-raising adrenaline rush of a roar they screamed out, and really there was no comparing the Torque. We among lot of other Trans Am Enthusiasts believe the 1979 was the best year for the Trans Am and best and Last representation of a combination of True Muscle and Luxury. SEE BELOW
